How it Happened:
The challenge for the Golden Eagles on Saturday was to turn around after such an emotional night and play IUP within 24 hours of the home opener. UC rose to the occasion and won their first game of the season. After such an long night for most of the starting five, this was an opportunity for some of the players coming off the bench to put their impact on the game. Mission accomplished. The bench provided the spark the pushed the Golden Eagles to their largest lead in the first half, and never looked back.
UC started the game off slow. Dragging from the night before. But as soon as some fresh legs subbed into the game, the Golden Eagles never looked back. UC won the first half 47-27. Coming out of halftime, there was not the same sense of urgency. IUP cut the game to within 6 points. But, ultimately UC pulled away.
Keaton Turner was the highlight of the game, scoring 17 points (6-12 FG, 3-8 3PT) and 5 rebounds off the bench. Ja'Corey Lipkins also stepped up huge for UC scoring 8 points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3PT) with 1 rebound and 1 assist.
The Golden Eagles shot 55.2% from the field and 42.9% from 3.
