Charleston Falls Short Against Gannon

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston women's basketball team fell just short against Gannon University, losing 71-68 in a tightly contested matchup at the H. Bernard Wehrle Arena on Saturday.

How it Happened:
Charleston (2-2) started slowly in the first quarter, trailing 14-13 despite a strong defensive effort. Senior Kiley Graham paced the Golden Eagles early, scoring 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including three from beyond the arc.

The second quarter saw Charleston finding its rhythm offensively, outscoring Gannon 25-22. Paris Stokes contributed with her playmaking, finishing the game with 10 points and six assists. Charleston took a one-point lead into halftime, fueled by solid shooting and defensive stops.

Charleston maintained their momentum in the third quarter, scoring 19 points while holding Gannon to 17. Sydney Bolles added eight points, including two key three-pointers, helping the Golden Eagles stay ahead entering the final frame.

However, the fourth quarter proved decisive. Despite a valiant effort, Charleston struggled offensively, scoring only 11 points while Gannon managed 18. A late push led by Trinitee Harris, who finished with six points and three steals, was not enough to overcome the deficit.
