CHARLESTON, W.Va. & GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's basketball team opened Mountain East Conference play with two tough losses, falling 85-78 to Concord University at home and 109-92 to Glenville State University on the road at the Waco Center.

How it Happened:
In the conference opener against Concord, the Golden Eagles (2-5, 0-2 MEC) fought valiantly but were unable to overcome a slow second quarter. Senior Ksenija Mitric led Charleston with a game-high 20 points, including three three-pointers. Sydney Bolles was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jamia Nesmith contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Harper Annarino came off the bench to score 15 points in a spirited effort.
On the road at Glenville State, the Golden Eagles showcased their offensive depth but struggled defensively against the Pioneers' high-scoring attack. Harper Annarino continued her strong play, leading Charleston with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Ksenija Mitric added 19 points, going 10-of-14 from the free-throw line, while Bridget Womber provided a spark off the bench, tallying 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kiara Cruz chipped in with 11 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc.
Despite their efforts, Charleston was unable to contain Glenville State's scoring, particularly in the fourth quarter, where the Pioneers outscored the Golden Eagles 36-30.
