The Basics:
Location: Frankfort, KY
Score: 89-74

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles scored first on a layup by Colbert III, but the game quickly turned into a tug-of-war with the lead transferring hands multiple times. With the score knotted at seven, a dunk by Shunta Wilson put them out in front, but the Thorobreds responded with a dunk of their own to spark another back-and-forth battle from both sides. Eventually, Charleston managed to break away from Kentucky State, extending their lead to 18-12. The Golden Eagles held onto the lead until KSU squeezed past on two straight baskets with a minute and a half left on the clock to secure the lead going into the next half.

Charleston broke it open in the second half after extending their lead to 46-40 on a six-point run that featured a layup by Wilson, a free throw by Colbert III and a trey by DeAirius Barker. From there, the Golden Eagles led confidently the rest of the way. Like Wilson in the first half, teammate Obinna Ugwuakazi also had a dunk to make the score 61-49. Charleston improved their field goal percentage from .484 to .606 in the second half to secure the 89-74 victory over Kentucky State.
