The Basics:
Location: Glenville, W.Va.
Score: 89-73 (UCWV)
How it Happened:
Tyler Eberhart started the game off in style with a dunk assisted by Dwaine Jones. The score quickly knotted up at two on a layup by the Pioneers, but the Golden Eagles secured the next four points on layups of their own by Eberhart and Jones. Glenville took the lead once again following a jump shot and a trey to put them ahead by a point. UC continued to trail, but they crawled their way back into the game and pulled ahead 19-18 on a triple by Shunta Wilson, the most recent MEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The game remained close until the Pioneers evened the score at 40 on a pair of free throws. A Charleston three-pointer by Eberhart, free throws by Wilson and a missed trey by Glenville closed out the scoring for the half though, giving UC the advantage as they headed back to the locker room for halftime.
Wilson continued the scoring into the second half on a layup to put the Golden Eagles out in front, 47-40. Charleston remained in control of the game, as seven points was the closest the Pioneers could get to UC, as their momentum fizzled out following the break. Glenville managed to cut the deficit down to ten, however, even though they kept it close in the first half, UC widened the gap again and it only continued to grow as the game progressed. The last half featured three-pointers by Barker (2) and Colbert III and two-pointers by Wilson, Eberhart (3), Jones (3), Colbert III (2), Barker (3) and Obinna Ugwuakazi. Shooting .516 (16-31) from the field in the first and .500 (16-32) in the second, the Golden Eagles secured the 89-73 victory over the Pioneers with the game ending on a free throw by Glenville.
