Charleston's Nine Goals Not Enough in 16-9 Defeat

Findlay, OH – In their final out-of-conference matchup, the Golden Eagles would head back up north to face the Oilers of the University of Findlay out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Findlay came into the matchup off a tough 15-10 loss at home, while Charleston looked to make it three consecutive victories heading into MEC play after wins over Malone and Thomas More.

How It Happened
Erin Kodger of Findlay would find the game's first goal five minutes into the contest to take the 1-0 advantage in quarter one but would quickly be matched and raised by two Charleston scores from CJ Cook and Darby Stolz, as the visitors found their first lead of the game at 2-1. The Oilers struck Oil on the other end of the field as they found three unanswered goals to take the 4-2 lead into the second quarter of play. Despite the Golden Eagles leveling the game at 4-4 with goals from Madison Partridge and Stolz once again, it was Findlay that took the game over with three more goals within the closing four minutes of the half to take an 8-5 lead into the halftime break. Up to this point in the game, goalkeeper Megan Liston had seven saves on 17 shots faced.

The Oilers came out of the halftime break and put up a dominant second half performance at the Armstrong Sports Complex. They would outscore Charleston 8-4, winning 8-14 draw controls over the Golden Eagles. Blundell's goal at the 11:36 mark of the fourth quarter would be the final goal of the day for Charleston, as they would take the 16-9 loss on the road to the Findlay Oilers.

Darby Stolz finished out her afternoon with three goals for Charleston, followed by Madison Partridge and Gianni Blundell with two each in the contest. They'll move to 4-5 on the year as they head into their first Mountain East Conference matchup this Saturday.
