Charleston, W.Va. – Both the men's and women's golf teams placed first at the UC Invitational.  Lauren Besford and Erik Ulväng also were crowned for shooting the lowest overall score. Tuesdays play got cancelled due to weather turning the women's into an 18 hole tournament and the men's into 36.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles women's golf team teed off at Berry Hills Country Club on Monday, March 25^th for what was meant to be the first round of a two round home tournament. The men were playing at Edgewood Country Club for a 36 hole day. Unfortunately, the second day of play got rained out cancelling round two for the women and three for the men cutting both tournaments a round short.
 
The women shot +51 through one round at Berry Hills, five shots better than Malone in second place and 35 shots better than the third place Davis & Elkins.
 
Lauren Besford won the overall individual after shooting a 74 (+4), four strokes better than second place. Lucia Martin finshed third overall shooting an 80 (+10) and Gabrielle Harrison followed with an 81 (+11). Iciar Canalejo was tied for fifth with an 82 (+12) .

Over at Edgewood, the men played 36 holes on day one and Charleston shot 572 (+4) for two rounds.  In round one Charleston was +1 and for round two they were +3. Charleston was 26 strokes better than the next best team in Glenville at (+30).
 
Erik Ulväng won the overall with a 139 (-3), shooting two under in round one and one under in the second round. Pau Sanchez was the runner up with a 141 (-1) shooting even in the first round and one under in the second.
