Wheeling, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles Men's Golf Team medals and claims first place in the Mountain East Conference Spring Championship. After day one, Charleston was +4 and in fourth place, but a round two team score of -7 propelled Charleston to first place, -3 for the tournament.

How it Happened:
On day one of competition the Golden Eagles struggled, shooting four over par and ending the day in fourth place. William Carestam shot a 70 (-1) in the first round, ending the day in sixth place, Erik Ulväng finishing the day shooting even. On day two, the Golden Eagles turned things around, shooting seven under par, good for a team score of 277, the lowest team round of the tournament. The second round for Charleston was good enough to boost the Golden Eagles from fourth place all the way to the top, claiming tournament champions. William Carestam finished second overall with a first round score of 7- (-1), and second round of 67 (-4), shooting five under overall.
Along with tournament champions, Charleston also had several individuals claim All-MEC awards. The All-MEC men's golf teams are chosen according to players' individual performances across five rounds of MEC-sponsored play throughout the 2023-24 season. The initial three rounds occurred from October 2nd to 4th at Avalon Golf and Country Club in Warren, Ohio, during the 2023 MEC Golf Championships. The remaining two rounds were held on April 8th and 9th at Oglebay Resort as part of the 2024 MEC Spring Invitational. William Carestam and Pau Sanchez were named to the All-MEC First Team. Rory Gorman, Carlos Mortera, and Erik Ulväng were all named to the All-MEC Second Team.
