A Clean Sheet for Charleston in 3-0 Victory Over Salem

Charleston, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles welcomed Salem to the Welch Athletic Complex on Monday evening, looking to build on their victory over Saginaw Valley two days before.

The Basics:
Location: Welch Athletic Complex
Score: UC 3, SU 0
Records: UC 6-0-1 (4-0-0 MEC), Salem 1-5-0

How it Happened:
Hugo Prats Deusdad got UC off to a fast start with a goal in the eighth minute to open his account for the season. Prats Deusdad took the ball down expertly before sending it past the Salem goalkeeper, whilst Tomas Petrungaro was credited with the assist. The Golden Eagles were in control for the majority of the first half, keeping possession for large parts of the contest but Salem kept their shout count down to 4 heading into the half time interval.

Into the second half and substitute Joao Belmudes got himself on the scoresheet three minutes after the restart as Eduardo Rodrigues was taken down in the Salem penalty area, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Belmudes sent the 'keeper the wrong way to double the lead. He then turned provider in the 58th minute as he laid one on a plate for Jack Kay to grab his second of the season, with Eduardo Rodrigues again involved in the buildup.

The Golden Eagles would be comfortable for the remainder of the game, with French duo Ethan Zarka and Paul Hoste getting valuable minutes under the lights at the WAC as the scoreline finished 3-0.

Up Next:
The team will next be in action on Wednesday September 25 at the Welch Athletic Complex against Concord, with kick off scheduled for 7:00pm.
