Golden Eagles Secure Conference Win Over Bobcats

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 70-63 victory over the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats in Mountain East Conference action Wednesday evening at the Rockefeller Center. With this win, the Golden Eagles improve to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in MEC play.

How it Happened:
Charleston set the tone early, holding the Bobcats to just six points in the first quarter while scoring 11 themselves. The Golden Eagles expanded their lead in the second quarter, heading into halftime up 33-24, thanks to efficient shooting and strong defensive rebounding.

The Bobcats made a third-quarter push, outscoring Charleston 23-21, but the Golden Eagles weathered the storm. Balanced scoring and clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter sealed the victory as both teams tallied 16 points in the final frame.

Charleston's Ksenija Mitric led the charge with 18 points, including an impressive 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Harper Annarino contributed a near double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Sydney Bolles and Jamia Nesmith each added 13 points. Nesmith also dominated the glass, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles shot 39.3% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range, compared to West Virginia Wesleyan's 42.6% field goal percentage. Charleston also excelled at the free-throw line, converting 17-of-25 attempts. The Golden Eagles' bench provided a key lift, outscoring the Bobcats' reserves 19-2.
