Charleston Women’s Basketball Secures Victory Over Davis & Elkins

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Basketball team picked up a critical Mountain East Conference (MEC) victory, defeating Davis & Elkins College 68-56 on Saturday evening at the H. Bernard Wehrle Arena. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in MEC play.

How it Happened:
The game was tightly contested early, with the teams tied at 10 after the first quarter. Charleston gained momentum in the second, outscoring the Senators 17-13 to take a 27-23 halftime lead. The Golden Eagles extended their advantage in the third quarter, fueled by their inside presence and offensive rebounding, winning the period 22-20. They closed the game with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring Davis & Elkins 19-13 to seal the win.

  • Paris Stokes led Charleston with an impressive all-around performance, scoring a team-high 18 points while adding 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block.
  • Harper Annarino provided a significant boost off the bench with 17 points and 9 rebounds, hitting key shots in the second half to help Charleston pull away.
  • Jamia Nesmith controlled the boards with 8 rebounds and added 12 points, providing a consistent inside presence throughout the game.
  • Sydney Bolles contributed 8 points, while Kiley Graham and Candela Nevares García added valuable rebounding and defense to keep Davis & Elkins at bay.

Charleston dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Senators 50-34, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 12 second-chance points.
