Pittsburgh, Pa. –Charleston defeated Mountain East Conference opponent, the Point Park Pioneers 59-47 to pick up their tenth win in conference play and hold at fourth place in the standings.

How it Happened:
The low scoring road contest for Charleston began with Point Park hitting a three pointer and then Charleston responding with a quick jumper by
Ja'Corey Lipkins. Seconds later, the same Pioneer hit another shot from beyond the arc and forced Coach Long to call an early timeout to talk with his Golden Eagle squad. Coming out of the timeout, Charleston's
Dwaine Jones went on a 10-0 run, putting the Golden Eagles ahead 12-6 after trailing 6-2 at the timeout.
The Pioneers then responded with a 5-0 run to get right back in the contest, trailing only by one. From there the teams traded three-pointers, and after a good jump shot from Point Park, the Pioneers had the lead back at 16-15. The teams went on to trade buckets back and forth, Point Park holding a small three-point lead as time wound down. With just five seconds left in the half, Charleston's
Zach Loveday blocked a Pioneer shot, and as Trevor Barrett dribbled the ball back to Charleston's end, the time was ticking and he threw up a half-court shot that found the basket as the buzzer sounded for halftime, Charleston evening the score at 27-27.
To start the second half,
Dwaine Jones for Charleston drove in the paint and laid up a left-handed shot after a steal to put the Golden Eagles ahead 29-27. The Pioneers responded with a two-point play of their own to even the contest back once more. The Golden Eagles then went on a 14-0 run to take a significant lead over the Pioneers with just over eleven minutes left to play. The Pioneers then responded with a 16-6 run to get the game back within reach, Point Park only trailing by four-points, 49-45 with 4:13 left to play.
The Golden Eagles closed out the contest with a 10-2 run, 7-10 points coming by way of the charity stripe. Charleston took the victory over the Pioneers 59-47, completing the series sweep and improving to 10-6 in Mountain East Conference play.
In the contest,
Dwaine Jones led all scorers with 21 points.
Zach Loveday found eight blocks, seven boards, and four assists for Charleston in the victory.
