CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's basketball team fell to Fairmont State University, 76-65, on Wednesday evening at the Wehrle Innovation Center.
The Golden Eagles (12-9, 8-6 MEC) struggled to keep pace with the Fighting Falcons (18-3, 12-2 MEC), who capitalized on a strong second half to secure the win.

How it Happened:
Charleston found themselves trailing early, ending the first quarter down 17-12 despite a balanced offensive effort. In the second quarter, the Golden Eagles' defense tightened, but they were outscored 15-13 to enter halftime facing a 32-25 deficit.
Coming out of the break, Charleston saw an offensive spark, led by Jamia Nesmith, who finished with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Ksenija Mitric added 15 points off the bench, while Harper Annarino contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Despite scoring 22 points in the third, Charleston was unable to cut into Fairmont State's lead, as the visitors put up 24 in the quarter.
In the final frame, the Golden Eagles fought to mount a comeback, with Nesmith and Annarino making key plays in the paint. However, Fairmont State kept control, hitting timely shots to maintain their lead and seal the victory.
