DANIELS, W.Va. – The Glenville State women's golf team swept the overall and individual titles at the MEC Championships. The three-day, 54-hole stroke play event was held at the Resort at Glade Springs' par 72 Cobb Course.

The Pioneers' Kerri-Anne Cook rallied during Wednesday's final round to claim the individual title and help Glenville State to a one-shot team title over the University of Charleston. The 2024 team title is the Pioneers' third consecutive MEC championship.

Cook, a freshman, posted a two-over 74 during the decisive round to outlast UC teammates Mari Filippa Larsen and Lucia Martin, both of whom finished three shots back. Cook posted a 79 during Monday's first round and a 76 on Tuesday to make the cut, but trailed Larsen by two shots entering the final day of competition. Larsen posted a final round 79, while teammate Martin concluded the three days with a 77.

Meanwhile, Glenville State also had to rally to overtake the Golden Eagles for the team three-peat. The Pioneers had a 10-shot lead after Monday's opening 18 holes, but trailed UC by three strokes after Tuesday's penultimate round and cut. Cook started her march toward a team title on No. 10, but saved her individual and team push for Wednesday's second nine holes, where she recorded birdies on Nos. 2 and 5.

Glenville State's Maria Escobar and UC's Ines Fernandez rounded out the top five individual scorers. Escobar and Fernandez joined the top three finishers ­— the medalist, Cook, and runners-up Larsen and Martin — on the MEC all-tournament team.

Rounding out the top 10 individual scorers: Kendall Wall, Glenville State; Gabrielle Harrison, Charleston; Lizzie Bickar, Glenville State; Gadea Melgarejo, Charleston; Alice Anderson, Charleston; and Emerson Simons, Fairmont State.
