Charleston Downs Concord on the Road

Athens, W.Va. -Charleston swept the Concord Mountain Lions on Friday afternoon. Game one was a 12-1 UC victory and game two was won by a score of 3-1.
 
 
GAME 1
 
The Basics:
Location: CU Softball Field
Score: UC 12, CU 1
Records: UC 14-8 (7-4 MEC) Concord 10-18
 
How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles got off to a hot start in game one against the Concord Mountain Lions. Charleston took a 1-0 lead in the second off an Ella Zucchero RBI single. Then in the third inning, the Golden Eagles tacked on two more runs. Kayla Moran and Hannah Meyer each collecting an RBI.
 
In the top of the fourth inning, Zucchero picked up two more RBI's on a two-run homer to right field, the Golden Eagles leading 5-0. The Mountain Lions plated their lone run of the ball game in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 5-1.
 
Charleston then then scored seven insurance runs in the top of the seventh before closing out the bottom half of the inning in 1-2-3 fashion.
 
Ella Zucchero went 3-4 at the plate with four RBI's for Charleston and Kyra Gooler went 4-5 with one RBI. Addison Mass collected the win for UC to improve to 11-2 on the season.
 
GAME 2
 
The Basics:

Score: UC 3, CU 1
Records: UC 15-8 (8-4 MEC) Concord 10-19
 
How it Happened:
In game two of the afternoon the Golden Eagles once again struck first, plating a run in the top of the second inning off a Hannah Meyer sacrifice fly. Charleston held the lead until the fourth when the Mountain Lions plated a run to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when Kaleigh Serra blasted a two-run shot to left field, giving the Golden Eagles the 3-1 lead. Charleston's defense then sat the Mountain Lions down in order in the bottom half of the inning, taking the victory, Chloe Elliot improving to 4-6 on the mound.
