Charleston, W.Va. -– It came down to the final swings at Watt Powell Annex, and the University of Charleston delivered. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Eagles rallied for a dramatic 2-1 walk-off win over Davis & Elkins on Friday evening, and sealing the 2-0 victory in game 2.
GAME 1
The Basics:

How it Happened:
Charleston was held scoreless through six innings but came alive in the clutch. After Davis & Elkins broke the stalemate in the top of the seventh with a solo home run to right field for the go ahead run.
Despite the sudden deficit, the Golden Eagles came to life in the top of the seventh. With two runners aboard, freshman Taylor Hodson put a fly ball down the right field line that was misplayed and allowed two runs to score, plating Kayla Moran and Alex Hurley to seal the comeback win.
Addison Mass would collect the win to improve 13-3 on the season after a sharp outing, allowing just three hits while striking out five. Her ability to pitch to contact and work ahead in counts proved crucial.
GAME 2

Records: UC 19-11 (11-7 MEC) Davis & Elkins 15-23 (8-7 MEC)
How it Happened:
In a pitchers' duel at Watt Powell Annex, the University of Charleston Golden Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over the Davis & Elkins Senators.
The Golden Eagles broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on the corners, a fielding error by Davis & Elkins' first baseman allowed Hannah Meyer to score from third, giving Charleston a 1-0 lead. In the sixth inning, Kaleigh Serra showcased her speed with an inside-the-park home run, extending Charleston's lead to 2-0.
Chloe Elliott delivered a masterful performance, pitching a complete-game shutout. She allowed just one hit, issued five walks, and struck out one batter.

Charleston will host cross-town rival West Virginia State this Wednesday for an afternoon double header beginning at 4:00PM at the Watt Powell Annex.
