Charleston's Season Comes to an End at the MEC Tournnament

Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles lost a pair of games on Friday evening, ending their season at the MEC Tournament.
 
GAME 1
 
The Basics:
Location: GoMart Ballpark
Score: UC 1, FSU 12
Records: Charleston 26-24 Frostburg State 36-15
 
How it Happened:
Trent Dosenbach collected three hits in three at bats, but Charleston lost to Frostburg State Bobcats 12-1 on Friday. Dosenbach hit a solo home run to right field in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

A home run to right field by Ryan Bouma put Frostburg State Bobcats on the board in the top of the first. Frostburg State Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the second on a home run to left field by Jackson Schalick.

Charleston scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to right field by Dosenbach. Frostburg State Bobcats scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Ben Wieman.

Jacob McDonald earned the win for Frostburg State Bobcats. The righty surrendered five hits and one run over eight innings, striking out eight and walking three. Landon Ingram pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Charleston. The hurler surrendered three hits and one run while, striking out two and walking four. Tyson Willis took the loss for Charleston. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out none and walking one.
 
GAME 2

Location: GoMart Ballpark
Score: UC 1, FSU 4
Records: Charleston 26-25 Fairmont State 26-25
 
How it Happened:
Even though Charleston collected six hits to Fairmont State's three, they still fell 4-1 on Friday. Carter Rust led Charleston with two hits.

Fairmont State were the first to get on the board in the second when Tyler Haskins homered to right field, scoring three runs.

Connor Tingler earned the win for Fairmont State. The pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Austin Perando pitched four innings in relief for Charleston. The reliever allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) while, striking out three and walking one. Mason Behn took the loss for Charleston. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking three. Dylan Gongola began the game for Fairmont State. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Mac Schnur earned the save.

Rust went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Charleston turned one double play in the game.
