Charleston, W.Va.. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles welcomed Davis & Elkins to the Welch Athletic Complex this past Sunday for a Mountain East Conference matchup.
The Basics:
Location: Welch Athletic Complex
Score: UC 0, D&E 0
Records: UC 2-0-2 (1-0-1 MEC) Daivs & Elkins 1-1-2 (1-0-2 MEC)
How it Happened:The first shot didn't come until the 22nd minute and it ended up being the only Senators shot of the game; a free kick on the left was comfortably saved by Konstantinos Parisis. The Golden Eagles best chance of the half fell to Samuel Montes from a well worked short corner routine, but his header was an easy save for the Senators keeper.
Into the second half and the Golden Eagles began to look a little more dangerous, registering nine shots overall. The main talking point came in the 69th minute when D&E's Santiago Maiolo was given his marching orders for a nasty tackle on Tomas Muller, having initially been given a yellow by the referee. Charleston upped the ante following his dismissal, and had a couple of penalty shouts waved away, McKenzie Mason forced a save, and then Franco Tradatti had a low effort from outside the area tipped round the post, and this turned out to be UC's best chance of the game.
The game finished with the scoreline reading 0-0 and leaves the Golden Eagles with a record of 2-0-2 (1-0-1).
