How it Happened:
The University of Charleston men's cross country team captured the team title at the West Liberty (Bethany) Invitational, while the women's squad placed third overall in a strong field.
For the men, freshman Harry Witt led the way with the individual win in 18:54. He was followed by teammate Jules Geffroy-Remot in 2nd (19:00), giving UC a 1-2 finish. Cosmas Chelanga placed 9th in 19:30, with Caleb Gilbert finishing 13th (19:35) and Oscar Rayner 19th (19:52). The Golden Eagles tallied 44 points with all five scorers inside the top 20.
On the women's side, Amanda Ferrante finished 4th in 18:49, and Bethany Wallis joined her in the top 10 with a 9th-place finish in 19:29. Hallie Simmons took 13th in 19:39, followed by Ava Liftritz in 22nd (20:03) and Abbey Bolton in 28th (20:15) to round out the scoring. UC finished third with 76 points.
