Bethlehem, PA - The University of Charleston Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were both slated to compete on Friday morning and afternoon at the Paul Short Run Invitational located at Lehigh University. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, many of the races in the afternoon were canceled. All the men's team runners were able to compete, but a good number of women's runners had their days cut short.
The men's team placed 9th overall in the Men's College Gold Race (8k) in a field of 35 teams with 30 of those teams being Division I programs. Mathew Meli was the 2nd overall finisher and was the top DII finisher. His 8k time of 24:01 was the fastest in the MEC this season. Kelvin Kipchumba placed 16th (24:22) and Mohamed Salahedine Ensaad placed 56th (25:05).
