Golden Eagles Dominate Salem

Salem, WV – Charleston takes the win in away game versus Salem. 

The Basics

How it Happened 
UC started off this game with a three-pointer from Senior Ksenija Mitric. Charleston would have a great first quarter as the jumpers were raining down. Livia O'Dea, Jordan "JoJo" Scully and Ksenija Mitricwould all have significant points this quarter. Scully, a freshman hit back-to-back threes late in the quarter to put The Golden Eagles up 22-9. Ksenija Mitric also had back-to-back buckets to end the half, and Salem was in trouble down 26-12 to end the quarter.  
Bridget Womber, who would have a total of eighteen rebounds in this game, started the second quarter off with a rebound and tip in. Faith Whalen would put some points up as well making some free-throws and draining a three making the score 33-16. UC would continue to stay hot in the second, playing good defense and nailing big shots. Giving them the lead going into halftime 41-23. 

After the break Livia O'Dea would be the first to score on a close-range jumper. Salem would respond with a couple of layups, but Faith Walen would return with a bucket of her own. The Tigers would mount a comeback in this quarter as Selena Frost had six straight points to bring Salem within twelve. Melin Guo from Salem had a couple of buckets as well before the end of the third, putting Salem back in the game 48-39. 
In the fourth and final quarters Charleston and Salem were trading buckets. With about seven minutes left in the game, Nakayala Green from Salem drained two three pointers, bringing the game within three.The Golden Eagles would hold the lead until there were three minutes left, and a layup from Salem tied the game at 57! Bridget Womber hit the boards hard in the clutch moments, having some huge rebounds. Charleston was able to get the ball to leading scorer Jordan Scully who came through in the final moments of the game. She had nine of Charleston's last ten points and secured the victory for the Golden Eagles 68-60! 
 
Jordan Scully had an efficient 23 points being the games leading scorer. Bridget Womber had a terrific 18 rebounds in this one giving UC the edge. Livia O'Dea and Ksenija Mitric both had 12 points in this game.
