How It Happened
Charleston wasted no time setting the tone. Alyse Weber secured the opening draw control, and less than a minute later Walsh was assessed a green card. With the man advantage, Sylvi Jenner struck first to put UC on the board. Weber followed with a goal of her own and added two more over the next seven minutes to spark an early surge. Darby Stolz extended the lead to 5–0 on a sharp feed from Hayden Slinkard before Walsh closed the first quarter with two late goals to trim the deficit.
Weber continued her dominant performance early in the second quarter, scoring three minutes in during another man-up opportunity. However, back-to-back green cards against the Golden Eagles allowed Walsh to capitalize, cutting the score to 6–4. Charleston responded quickly. Jenner and Madison Partridge each found the back of the net on assists from freshman Jayden Ballance, restoring control. Walsh added a goal in the final seconds of the half, sending UC into the break with an 8–5 advantage as snowfall intensified.
Despite the worsening conditions, Charleston kept its composure in the second half. After recording two first-half assists, Ballance scored her first collegiate goal four minutes into the third quarter. Walsh answered with two goals, but UC closed the period strong. In the final three minutes, Weber, Partridge, and Slinkard each scored to stretch the lead to 12–7.
The Golden Eagles sealed the win in the fourth. Partridge and Elise Collins converted free-position opportunities early in the quarter, and after a Walsh goal, UC took full command. Stolz netted back-to-back goals before Partridge capped the scoring for Charleston — once again assisted by Ballance, who finished with four assists on the day. Walsh added a late goal, but the outcome was secure as Charleston claimed the 17–9 victory.
Partridge's performance was historic, as she became the first Golden Eagle in program history to reach 200 career points.
