Salem, Va. — The University of Charleston softball team earned a 5–0 victory over Seton Hill on Saturday at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament in Salem, Virginia.

How It Happened
Charleston got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Elle Zucchero worked a walk and moved into scoring position before Kayla Moran drove her in with a sacrifice fly to give the GoldenEagles an early 1-0 lead.
Seton Hill put runners on in the third inning but Charleston worked out of the frame without allowing a run to keep the Griffins off the scoreboard.
The Golden Eagles added to their lead in the bottom of the third. Taylor Hodson opened the inning with a single and Cali Masters followed with another base hit. Later in the inning, Robyn Wood delivered an RBI single to bring home Hodson and extend the Charleston lead to 2-0.
Charleston created separation in the fifth inning. Masters reached on an error and moved up on a passed ball before Dani Pici drew a walk. Ana Espinoza then delivered a double that brought home both runners to push the Golden Eagles ahead 4-0.
The Golden Eagles added their final run in the sixth inning. Emma Smith singled and later came around to score after advancing on a groundout and a run-scoring play from Hodson to make it 5-0.
Charleston's pitching staff limited Seton Hill to two hits and worked through a few baserunners to secure the shutout victory.
