CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston softball team fell to Ohio Dominican, 7–2, on Sunday afternoon at the UC Softball Field during UC Invitational play.

How it Happened:
Ohio Dominican struck early in the top of the first inning, using three hits to plate three runs and take a 3–0 advantage.
Charleston was held scoreless through the first four innings before breaking through in the bottom of the fifth. After Danielle Pici singled and advanced into scoring position, Kaleigh Serra delivered a ground-rule double to left center to bring home the Golden Eagles' first run and cut the deficit to 6–1.
Ohio Dominican added to its lead in the fifth inning, capitalizing on three hits and a sacrifice fly to extend the margin to 6–0, then tacked on another run in the seventh on a stolen base to make it 7–2.
The Golden Eagles added one more run in the bottom of the sixth. Bianca Polistina reached on a walk and later scored when Taylor Hodson doubled to left center, trimming the score to 6–2.
Ohio Dominican recorded 13 hits in the contest while Charleston finished with four. The Golden Eagles were unable to generate a late rally in the seventh as Ohio Dominican closed out the 7–2 win.
