Golden Eagles Split Road Results

Game 1
San Rafael, CA – The Golden Eagles wrapped up their California schedule with a matchup against Wilmington University of Delaware. 

The Basics

How It Happened
The Wildcats started the game strong, controlling the opening draw and scoring the first two goals of the contest. Darby Stolz put Charleston on the board with eight minutes remaining in the first quarter, but Wilmington answered just 20 seconds later. The Wildcats added two more late goals to close the period with a 5-1 lead.
Charleston came out with more energy in the second quarter, scoring two quick goals—Stolz netted her second of the game before Hayden Slinkard followed with another. However, Wilmington tightened up defensively while continuing to find success on offense. The Wildcats held UC scoreless for the remainder of the half while adding seven goals of their own, sending the teams into halftime with Charleston trailing 12-3.

The third quarter was more evenly contested. After Wilmington opened the scoring, Madison Partridge capitalized on a man-up opportunity to score for UC. The Wildcats responded with two more goals before Alyse Weber recorded her first of the game. Wilmington held a 15-5 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Both teams scored three goals in the fourth quarter. Charleston's goals came from Elle Creagh, Alyse Weber, and Sylvi Jenner, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as Wilmington secured the 18-8 victory.
 
Game 2
Canton, OH – Charleston traveled to Ohio to face Malone University, looking to bounce back with a win.

How It Happened
Malone controlled the opening draw, but Charleston struck first. Darby Stolz scored the opening goal less than three minutes into the game, and Sylvi Jenner followed with a free-position goal. Malone responded with a goal of their own, but UC's offense quickly found its rhythm. Jayden Ballance and Stolz added goals to give Charleston a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Golden Eagles continued to dominate in the second quarter. Jenner opened the scoring before Ballance netted two goals in just one minute. Elise Collins then added a goal off an assist from Hayden Slinkard. Jenner converted another free-position attempt before Malone scored, but Stolz quickly answered. Charleston headed into halftime with a commanding 11-2 lead.

UC kept the momentum going in the third quarter. Alyse Weber, Stolz, Jenner, and Emille Franklin all found the back of the net while Malone managed just one goal.
Malone scored early in the fourth quarter, but Ballance responded shortly after. Weber added another goal on a free-position shot before Malone scored twice. Elise Collins capped the scoring for Charleston, sealing the 18-6 victory.

Ballance, Stolz, and Jenner each recorded four goals in the win.
