How It Happened
Both teams were kept off the scoreboard through the first four innings as Charleston starter Addison Mass and Findlay's Kayla Dykin traded scoreless frames early.
Charleston recorded hits in both the first and second innings but could not push a run across. Taylor Hodson singled in the first and later advanced to second on a wild pitch before being caught stealing to end the inning. Kayla Moran singled in the second inning but the Golden Eagles were unable to capitalize.
Mass continued to keep Findlay quiet through the middle innings, working around a single in the third and a walk in the fourth to maintain the scoreless game.
Findlay broke through in the top of the fifth inning. After a walk and sacrifice bunt moved a runner into scoring position, Aurora Lescody singled down the right field line to bring home Annika Bredel and give the Oilers a 1–0 lead.
The Oilers added more in the top of the seventh. A fielding error put the leadoff runner aboard before back-to-back bunt singles loaded the bases. With two outs, Sophie Retton doubled to center field to drive in three runs, extending Findlay's advantage to 4–0.
Charleston answered in dramatic fashion in the bottom half of the inning. Kayla Moran led off the frame with a solo home run to right field to put the Golden Eagles on the board.
Robyn Wood followed with a pinch-hit single, and Emma Smith drew a walk to put two runners on. After a sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position, Mikiaela Guillen worked a walk to load the bases.
Ella Zucchero then delivered the biggest hit of the day, ripping a double to right field that cleared the bases and tied the game at 4–4.
With runners still on, Cali Masters reached on a fielder's choice to move the go-ahead run into scoring position. Caraline Dunn lifted a fly ball to right field, and an error on the play allowed Zucchero to score from third, completing the five-run comeback and sealing the 5–4 walk-off victory for Charleston.
