Charleston goes 2-2 at Glenville in MEC South Showdown

Game 1

The Basics:
Location: Sue Morris sports complex
Final Score: UC 0, GSU 1
Records: UC 8-22 (5-6 MEC), GSU 15-14 (5-6MEC)

How it Happened:
The first game of the series was the definition of a pitchers duel. UC's Breven Deckrosh and GSU's Zach Dellerman went back and forth putting up scoreless innings. Neither offense had any Success, as the two starters mixed up their pitches well.

Finally in the bottom of the sixth inning, Glenville State finally manufactured a run as a Sacrifice fly brought one run home. Despite their efforts the Golden Eagles could not score in this game as Dellerman only gave up three hits. Charleston lost this one 1-0.

Game 2 

The Basics:

Location: Sue Morris Sports Complex
Final Score: UC 7, GSU 4
Records: UC 9-22 (5-5 MEC), GSU 15-15 (5-7 MEC)

How it Happened:
The game started strong for UC, who quickly found their rhythm at the plate. In the first inning, Ryan Comella led off with a single that brought in two runs, scoring Andrew Kobryn and Collin Kemp. Despite an unearned run for Glenville State later in the inning, UC pulled ahead with a 2-1 lead. In the third inning, Ryan Comella stayed hot with a homer to left field, extending the lead to 3-1. However, Pioneers responded in the fourth, with a series of plays that included a hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly that allowed Adam Bright to score and brought them within one run at 3-2. Jacob Meadow's double further swung momentum, allowing Austin Carte to score and putting GSU ahead 4-3.

UC regained the lead in the sixth inning when Collin Kemp grounded out, bringing in Dame Witty to tie the game at 4-4. The defining moment came in the seventh inning as Dame Witty hit a clutch three-run homer to right center. With Zach Syvertson and M. Layne crossing the plate as well, UC ahead 7-4. Pitcher J.P. Shultz, ensured that the Golden Eagles held on to their lead for the win.

Game 3

The Basics:
Location: Sue Morris sports complex
Final Score: UC 7, GSU 4 
Records: UC 10-22 (6-5 MEC), GSU 13-10 (4-9 MEC) 

How it Happened: 
Glenville State came out aggressively from the start, with a productive first inning when Colby Guy hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Jacob Meadow to score and giving UC an early 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Carlos De Je stepped up to the plate and launched a home run to left center, bringing Colby Guy along for the ride, pushing the score to 3-0. The momentum continued in the fifth, as Ashton Crace singled to left center, bringing Jacob Meadow home for a 4-0 lead. Despite GSU's initial scoring flurry, Charleston responded in the sixth inning. Ashton Cochran singled to right center, scoring Ryan Comella and C. Kemp, pulling them back into the game and closing the gap to 4-2.

The tension started in the seventh. Collin Kemp's sac fly allowed Dame Witty to score, though it was an unearned run, trimming the lead to 4-3 for the Pioneers. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Kobryn also delivered a sac fly, allowing . Moose Lemond to score, tying the game at 4-4. The game went into extras but not much happened In the eighth. Going into the ninth, Andrew Kobryn flied out to left field, scoring Lemond, before Trent Dosenbach added to the scoreboard with a single that brought C. Kemp home, edging UC ahead 6-4. A. Cochran capped the scoring with a double to left field, scoring Trent Dosenbach and advancing Ryan Comella to third, finishing the game at 7-4 in favor of UC.

Game 4

The Basics:

Location: Sue Morris sports complex
Final Score: UC 1 GSU 3
Records: UC 10-23 (7-7 MEC), GSU 16-16 (5-9 MEC) 

How it Happened: 
Glenville state started the game strong, showcasing their offense in the first inning. They got things rolling with a single to right field, driving Jacob Meadow home and putting UC ahead 1-0. Shortly thereafter, Luke Sweigar added to the tally with a single to left field, allowing Ashton Crace to score and extending the lead to 2-0. The second inning saw continued momentum for GSU ; Jacob Meadow was put out at first, but Austin Carte advanced to third base and scored on an error by the first baseman, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of the Pioneers

The game settled into a defensive stalemate until the seventh inning when UC attempted a comeback. Derek Seiss flied out to center field, scoring Trent Dosenbach with a sacrifice fly, making it a 3-1 ball game. However that was all as UC would lose 3-1.
