How It Happened
Point Park controlled the opening draw, but Charleston quickly forced a turnover. Avery Butts capitalized, taking the ball coast-to-coast for her first career goal. Just 30 seconds later, Sylvi Jenner added another to give UC an early spark. After a Point Park response, the Golden Eagles surged ahead. Darby Stolz netted back-to-back goals, pushing the lead to 4-1 within the first five minutes. The Pioneers briefly answered, but Charleston closed the opening quarter strong with goals from Jenner and Mahlina McFadden.
Point Park struck first in the second quarter, but that would be their only highlight of the period. Charleston's defense tightened, shutting down the Pioneers for the remainder of the half. Offensively, the Golden Eagles took full control. Jenner added another goal, Stolz converted on a free-position attempt, and UC erupted for six goals between the 7:24 and 3:12 marks—winning every draw control during that stretch. Charleston headed into halftime with a commanding 14-3 lead.
The third quarter followed a similar pattern. Charleston fired off five shots in the first five minutes, converting three from Jenner, Alyse Weber, and Ella Creagh. Later in the period, Annika Dence picked up a ground ball that led to Madison Partridge scoring on the other end. Partridge added another goal just a minute later. Point Park managed one final goal late in the quarter, but it would be their last of the game.
Charleston dominated the fourth quarter, holding the Pioneers scoreless over the final 15 minutes. McFadden found the back of the net just 30 seconds in, followed by another from Partridge. CJ Cook, Jayden Ballance, Weber, and Lilian Garrett each added goals to cap off the 25-4 victory.
Charleston showcased its depth with 12 different players recording goals in the win.
