Buckhannon, W.Va. - Charleston swept the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan College including a game four extra inning victory for the Golden Eagles.
Game 1
The Basics:

How it Happened:
UC wasted no time jumping ahead in the first inning. Samuel Lemond got things started with a solo home run, and Ashton Cochran later reached on an error that allowed another run to score, giving UC a quick 2-0 lead. West Virginia Wesleyan answered with an RBI double from Matthew Neach to make it 2-1, but UC responded immediately in the second. Andrew Kobryn grounded out to bring in a run, followed by an RBI single from Collin Kemp to extend the lead to 4-1.
West Virginia Wesleyan briefly cut into the deficit with a solo home run from Dylan Neach, making it 4-2, but the third inning proved decisive. UC erupted offensively, highlighted by RBI hits from Derek Seiss, Damian Witty, Samuel Lemond, and Collin Kemp. The rally pushed UC's led to 9-2 before West Virginia Wesleyan answered with a series of RBI plays, including a double by Josiah Segura and a groundout from Dylan Neach, trimming the score to 9-5 by the end of the inning. In the fourth, West Virginia Wesleyan added another run via a bases-loaded walk by Alex Smith to make it 9-6, but that would be their final push. UC regained full control in the fifth inning. As Andrew Kobryn singled in a run, Collin Kemp delivered a two-RBI double, and additional RBI singles from Trent Dosenbach and Ashton Cochran extended the lead to 14-6.
UC continued to pile on in the sixth. Samuel Lemond drove in two more runs with a double; Collin Kemp added another RBI single, and Ashton Cochran capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly. With consistent offense and a dominant middle innings surge, UC secured the 18-6 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.
Game 2

How it Happened:
After a quiet start, UC broke through in the third inning with a big offensive surge. Samuel Lemond opened the scoring with an RBI single, bringing in Derek Seiss. Shortly after, Collin Kemp reached on an error that allowed two unearned runs to score, extending the lead to 3-0. Trent Dosenbach followed with an RBI single, plating Kemp to make it 4-0.
UC added to its lead in the fourth inning thanks to aggressive baserunning. A wild pitch allowed Drew Lucy to advance while Derek Seiss came home to score, pushing the advantage to 5-0. Later in the inning, Samuel Lemond delivered again with a two-run home run, scoring Damian Witty and stretching the lead to 7-0. Lemond continued his standout performance in the seventh inning, launching his second home run of the game to cap the scoring at 8-0.
Jay Peterson was on the mound for UC in this one. He was incredible. Peterson, a freshman, threw six scoreless innings taking a no hitter into the final inning. Behind elite pitching and solid offense, Charleston took the 8-0 win.
Game 3
The Basics:

Final Score: UC 3, WVWC 1
Records: UC 17-23 (14-7 MEC) West Virginia Wesleyan (4-17 MEC)
How it Happened:
The game remained scoreless until the third inning when UC capitalized on an opportunity to break through. Samuel Lemond delivered a two-RBI single, bringing home Derek Seiss while Zachary Syvertson also scored on a right field error, giving UC a 2-0 advantage. West Virginia Wesleyan responded in the fourth inning when Dylan Neach singled to drive in Alex Smith, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
UC added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Ashton Cochran doubled to bring home Collin Kemp, extending the lead to 3-1.
With Landon Ingram on the mound, UC could not lose. He only gave up one run during his outing Strong pitching and timely defense from UC held West Virginia Wesleyan in check the rest of the way.
Game 4
The Basics:

Final Score: UC 6, WVWC 5
Records: UC 18-23 (15-7 MEC), West Virginia Wesleyan (4-18 MEC)
How it Happened:
West Virginia Wesleyan struck first in the fifth inning, taking advantage of scoring opportunities. Coleman Cross lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Malik Wood, followed by an RBI single from Grant Shumaker that scored Dylan Neach and made it 2-0.
UC answered in the sixth inning with a strong offensive push. Collin Kemp delivered a twoRBI double, scoring Andrew Kobryn and Drew Lucy to tie the game at 2-2. Trent Dosenbach followed with an RBI single to give UC its first lead at 3-2. However, West Virginia Wesleyan quickly responded when Drew Jrolf launched a two-run home run, putting them back in front 4-3.
The back-and-forth continued into the seventh inning. UC regained the lead as Collin Kemp singled to drive in Samuel Lemond, and Trent Dosenbach followed with another RBI single to score Andrew Kobryn, making it 5-4. West Virginia Wesleyan answered once again, tying the game at 5-5 on an RBI single from Alex Smith that brought home Grant Shumaker.
After several scoreless innings, the game moved into extras. In the 12th inning, Trent Dosenbach came through in the clutch with an RBI double, scoring John Stansbury II on an unearned run to give UC a 6-5 lead. UC held on the rest of the way, securing the extra-innings victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.
