Charleston, W.Va.- The University of Charleston Golden Eagles kicked off their Fall 2026 campaign with a trip to Tiffin University this past Thursday.
The Basics:
Location:Â Paradiso Athletic Complex
Score:Â Charleston 3, Tiffin 2
Records:Â Charleston 1-0 (0-0 MEC)Â Tiffin 0-1Â
The Golden Eagles started the better of the two sides, having more of the ball and getting a few shots away early on. In the 17th minute, they broke the deadlock through Frenchman Allan Logrillo. He was found smartly by Jose Suarez Monaco and finished powerfully from the right hand side of the area to give Charleston the lead.
Six minutes later, the lead was doubled as a Mattia Marini corner was flicked in at the near post by Martin Echarren, and the Golden Eagles weren't done there. In the 31st minute, they had their third. Intricate play down the right from Imtie Kamaldien and the before mentioned Suarez Monaco and Logrillo ended with a cut back for Caio Moraes to whip into the far bottom corner. That goal gave the Golden Eagles a three goal cushion heading into the interval.
Into the second half and Charleston again came out the dominant side with the ball. Atem Kato and Pedro Arbizu had opportunities to further stretch the lead, but the next goal came down the other end when Yaw Turkson cut the deficit in the 68th minute. Turkson bagged another with 9 minutes remaining to set up an interesting finale, with Teddy McIntyre seeing red for a reckless challenge on Samuel Montes in the 85th minute. The Golden Eagles saw the game out to win on the opening day for the first time since 2023
