Charleston, W.Va.- The University of Charleston Golden Eagles welcomed Saginaw Valley State University to the WAC this past Sunday for a non-conference matchup.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles had the majority of the ball in the first half, going close through an Imtiyaaz Kamaldien effort which was tipped onto the crossbar, and a Caio Moraes free kick which was palmed away. However, it was the Cardinals that took the lead. Well worked play beginning from keeper Nick Kay found itself to center forward Matty Telfer, and following a run down Charleston's left, the ball fell to Noah Jackson in the middle of the penalty area and he made no mistake in firing the Cardinals in front.
Into the second half and Charleston came out the better of the two teams, but an error playing out led to Lorenzo Colaiacomo slotting home past the on-rushing Luka Felix to double Saginaw's lead. The Golden Eagles kept pushing to cut the deficit and gain some momentum, but in the 71st minute, the Cardinals struck again. After a counterattack from a Charleston corner, Matty Telfer got himself on the scoresheet after being involved in the build up to the first two goals and put the game beyond doubt. Samuel Marquez grabbed a goal back for the Golden Eagles in the 79th minute to give them some hope following some good play down the left from Tomas Petrungaro and Alberto Rodriguez, but the Cardinals came away the victors.
