Bridgeport, W.Va.- The University of Charleston Golden Eagles travelled to Bridgeport Wednesday for their first Mountain East Conference road test of the season against Salem.

How it Happened:
It began as a fairly even contest with neither team gaining a foothold early on. The best chance of the half fell to Allan Logrillo after the ball made its way to his feet in the left hand side of the penalty area, but the Tigers keeper was there to thwart him. Samuel Marquez, in his first start for the Golden Eagles, hit the side netting with a free kick late in the half, but it was scoreless going into the break.
The second half was a much livelier affair for the Golden Eagles as they had 13 shots in total, with five of those finding the back of the net. Tomas Petrungaro broke the deadlock with a sublime finish, cutting in from the left and curling his effort into the top right corner after being found by Pedro Arbizu. Caio Moraes made it two following a one-two with Jose Suarez Monaco, and then an individual piece of skill produced an opening at the edge of the area in which he found the bottom left corner from. In the 79th minute, Eduardo Rodrigues made it two in two as he got on the end of a Logrillo corner, and then Martin Echarren completed the rout with a quick fire double in the 90th minute, 10 seconds apart. Petrungaro's headed pass found Echarren for his first and Charleston's fourth, and then he closed down directly from kick off to get another opportunity in which he made no mistake burying. The Golden Eagles made the trip back to the capital with a 5-0 victory and another three points under their belts in the MEC South.
