West Liberty, W.Va. - The University of Charleston fell to West Liberty in four sets Friday night to start off conference play.

How It Happened:
Charleston started the first set strong, taking a 10-5 lead, but West Liberty responded quickly. The score was tied 19-19 before the Hilltoppers pulled in front to take the first set. WLU carried that momentum into set two, opening with a 9-3 run. Though UC fought back, that deficit was too much to overcome, and West Liberty would take set 2 by a score of 25-20. WLU looked poised to sweep before UC went on a 7-0 run behind three consecutive blocks from both Kate Strong and Divine Muo to take the set 25-20. Charleston came out swinging in set four, taking the first four points. West Liberty countered and the two teams kept the set highly competitive. In the end, WLU would take set four, and ultimately the match, by a score of 25-20.
Patrycja Majos led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills while Jasmine Broberg contributed 10. Kate Strong had 3 solo blocks with 2 block assists as well as 7 kills. On the defensive end, Sahana Rajesh had 24 digs.
