Charleston, WV – The University of Charleston women's soccer team returned to the Welch Athletic Complex on Sunday, earning its first conference win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Concord.

How It Happened
The Golden Eagles came out strong, recording the first two shots of the match from Alyssa Loguercio and Li-Lou Debaecker, but neither found the target. Concord responded with its first shot in the ninth minute, forcing Ines Degli Esposti to make her first save of the night. Both teams continued to create opportunities throughout the opening half. In the 33rd minute, Anaé Buehlmann forced the Concord goalkeeper into her first save of the match. Just two minutes later, Loguercio found Zailee Roberts, who scored her first goal of the season to give Charleston a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure, recording three shots over the next three minutes. In the 41st minute, Debaecker found the back of the net to extend Charleston's lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.
Concord came out aggressively to start the second half, picking up a yellow card just 12 seconds after the restart. The match became a back-and-forth battle over the next 25 minutes, with both teams creating several chances but neither able to add to the score. The Mountain Lions finally broke through in the 80th minute, cutting Charleston's lead to 2-1 and putting pressure on the Golden Eagles during the final 10 minutes. Charleston responded in the 85th minute when Devan Rosensweig scored the first goal of her collegiate career, with Debaecker providing the assist. The goal restored the Golden Eagles' two-goal advantage, and Charleston held on to secure the 3-1 victory.
Debaecker led the way for Charleston with a goal and an assist.
