University of Charleston Athletics

Porterfield enters his third year on staff at the University of Charleston. 

In his role, he oversees the collection, management, and analysis of data, the program’s use of technology (HitTrax, Blast Motion, WIN Reality, and Rapsodo), and coordinates defensive positioning. Additionally, Porterfield oversees the development of the program’s catchers. 

Porterfield has had three different Player Development internships in professional baseball, working for the Seattle Mariners in 2019, Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018, and the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016. In his role, Porterfield will also oversee the development of the program’s catchers. 

Porterfield graduated from the University of Charleston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Business in the fall of 2018, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership in the spring of 2020.
