University of Charleston Athletics

Ian Macdonald enters his third year on staff at the University of Charleston. 

Prior to arriving in Charleston, Macdonald served as the Pitching Coach at Grove City College, and worked full-time as Director of Baseball Operations for Steel City Select, a travel baseball organization based out of Pittsburgh. 

Macdonald pitched collegiately at Geneva College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and is currently pursuing his MBA from the University of Charleston.

In addition to overseeing the program’s evaluation & recruiting efforts, Macdonald will assist Anthony Zona in the development of the program’s pitchers. Macdonald is OnBaseU (Pitching), TPI - Level 1, and Program 15 Scout School certified. He has also received A, B, & C level certification through USA Baseball, the national governing body for amateur baseball.
