Taylor McMackin enters his first season as a member of the Golden Eagles Baseball staff. He serves as the Recruiting Coordinator and assists with Pitching.
Prior to the University of Charleston, McMackin served as an Assistant Coach at the University of Northern Colorado where he served as the 1st base coach while in charge of Outfielders and assisted with Hitting.
In the summer of 2021, McMackin served as the Head Coach for the Oso Bay Buccaneers in the Texas Coastal Collegiate League where his pitching staff threw two no-hitters while finishing the summer leading the league in ERA, WHIP, K’s, and BAA.
In 2020, McMackin served as a Graduate Assistant at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. While assisting with the Pitchers, the Islanders finished 2nd in the Southland Conference. While there he worked with 2nd-Team All-Conference standout John Gaddis who compiled for a 2.25 ERA with 72 K’s.
A 2015 graduate of Lubbock-Cooper High School (TX), McMackin went on to pitch at Texas A&M – Texarkana before transferring to Hardin Simmons University (TX) where he led the Cowboys on the mound in appearances in all three seasons.
McMackin is from Lubbock, Texas where the coaching bloodline runs deep. His Grandfather, Greg McMackin was the Head Football Coach for the University of Hawai’i from 2008-2011 where he was the last coach to bring home a conference championship in 2010 to the state of Hawai’i.
McMackin’s family now resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Shannon (Mother), Kayla (Sister), Braiden (Nephew), Greg & Heather (Grandparents).Â
