University of Charleston Athletics

Casto enters his second year on staff at the University of Charleston serving as the Director of Player Development and Community Outreach. Prior to coming to Charleston, Casto served as a Student Assistant Coach at West Virginia State University (2017-2019). At West Virginia State University, Casto helped with pitching and defensive strategies. After his time at West Virginia State University, Casto was an Assistant Coach at Nitro High School in Nitro, WV (2019-2021). At Nitro High School, Casto served as the Outfield, Base Running, and Analytics Coach. In the summer of 2021, Casto was named the Head Coach of the South Charleston Post 94 American Legion team. Post 94 had a record of 19-8 and finished the season as Area Tournament Champions and West Virginia American Legion State Runner Ups.

In his role, Casto will help assist the coaching staff with creating a successful player development plan, while creating opportunities for our student-athletes to serve the Charleston community. He will also oversee the development of the program’s outfielders.

Casto is a 2020 graduate of West Virginia State University. He graduated with a B.S. in Social Studies 5-Adult Education with an endorsement in Special Education. He also graduated with a B.A. in History, with certification in leadership from West Virginia State University.
