Jack Gammon

Jack Gammon enters his second season as the wide receivers coach and offensive recruiting coordinator with the University of Charleston football program after being retained by the newly hired head coach, Quinn Sanders.

In his first season (2021) he helped guide the Golden Eagles to the #20 overall scoring offense in Division II football, averaging 36.4 points per game and 364 yards of total offense. Gammon mentored Marquis McCoy to another all-conference season. McCoy averaged 14.3 yards per catch. Colby Cooper had a breakout season due to Gammon’s leadership. The junior wideout lead all receivers with 6 touchdowns and averaged 17.3 yards per catch.

On special teams, Gammon oversaw the kickoff return unit in its entirety, the bullets on punt and all the returners. His returners amassed production to become the #1 punt return unit in the Mountain East Conference. His wide receiver Colby Cooper became top 50 in the nation in punt returns for touchdowns.

His kickoff return unit was ranked statistically at #2 in the Mountain East Conference

Gammon came to the Golden Eagles from Division 2 Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio where he was the wide receivers coach. He tutored all conference receivers David Turner and Devanaire Conliffe for the Panthers. David Turner ended his career as the reception’s leader in school history.

Before becoming the wide receivers coach for Ohio Dominican, Gammon spent the 2019 season at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas. There he was the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. The Greyhounds achieved their highest national ranking in ten years (15) with three top-25 wins. Gammon mentored Sophomore Wide Receiver John Jiles who led the Jayhawk Conference in receptions (58), yards (943), yards per game (104.8), and touchdowns (6). Gammon coached 7 receivers in 2019 that signed division 1 scholarships.

In 2018, he served as wide receivers coach and out of state recruiting coordinator at Division III Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.

Gammon, a 2015 graduate and letterman of Marshall University, played four seasons for the Thundering Herd. He started his career as a preferred walk-on before earning a scholarship.

While at Marshall, Gammon was a part of a Conference USA East title in 2013 followed by a Conference USA Championship season in 2014. The Thundering Herd finished #22 in the coaches poll and #23 in the AP poll. Their highest finish since 2002. The program won three-straight bowl games during his stretch, defeating Maryland in the Military Bowl (2013), Northern Illinois in the Boca Raton Bowl (2014) and then Connecticut in the St. Petersburg Bowl (2015).

Gammon then spent the 2016 season as a graduate transfer at University of Tennessee at Martin, where the Skyhawks eventually played to an Ohio Valley Conference runner-up finish.

A native of Columbus, Gammon attended Bishop Watterson High School and played on the 2010 OHSAA Division III State championship team.

Gammon resides in Barboursville, West Virginia with his girlfriend Briana and their dog Scout.
