Jourdyn Thompson

Jourdyn Thompson is an accomplished football coach with over seven years of experience at the collegiate level, currently serving as the Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach. Known for developing explosive offenses and elite receiving talent, Thompson has made a name for himself as one of the rising minds in offensive football.

In 2024, while at Texas Wesleyan University, Thompson helped engineer one of the most dominant offenses in NAIA history. The Rams led the nation in total touchdowns (87), total points scored (632), and points per game (57.5)—ranking as the second-highest scoring offense in NAIA history. While the offense thrived behind a powerful rushing attack led by record-setting running back Ernest Ceasar III (40 total TDs), Thompson’s receiving corps was equally dangerous. His wideouts totaled 143 receptions, 2,662 yards, and 21 touchdowns, with two standouts, AJ Bobb and Michael Banks, earning All-Conference honors and shattering school records.

· Michael Banks set the record for most touchdown receptions in a game (3).

· AJ Bobb set records for: • Single-season receptions (53) • Single-season receiving yards (980) • Most career receptions (122) • Most career touchdown receptions (23) • Most career receiving yards (2,191)

Prior to his success at Texas Wesleyan, Thompson spent time at the University of Miami, where he worked under Coach Rob Likens, Josh Gattis, and Kevin Beard. Initially hired as a recruiting assistant, he was promoted in 2022 to assistant wide receivers coach. Thompson helped generate back-to-back top 10 recruiting classes, building strong relationships with families and some of the top high school talent in the country.

In 2023, he was part of an offense that ranked 3rd in the ACC in points per game (31.5) and 2nd in total yards per game (431.2). Miami’s receiving unit was among the most productive in the conference.

The top five receivers—Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, Colbie Young, Brashard Smith, and Isaiah Horton—combined for 224 receptions, 2,950 receiving yards, and 22 touchdowns.

Thompson played a key role in mentoring Xavier Restrepo, who posted a standout season with 85 receptions for 1,092 yards, ranking 20th in the nation in receiving yards and 18th in receptions.

Thompson began his college coaching career at ASA Miami in Florida, where he helped numerous athletes earn scholarships to Power 5 and Division II programs. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for maximizing talent, developing explosive passing games, and consistently elevating the performance of his players at every stop.
