Julius Jones

Julius Jones, CSCS,*D will be entering his first season at the University of Charleston as the safeties coach and director of Strength and conditioning coach for the Golden Eagles in the Fall of 2025.

In 2024 Coach Jones accepted a role as a quality control coach and assistant strength coach at Weber State University in Ogden, UT. Coach Jones helped the Wildcats achieve three All-Big Sky honors for the defense and helped Weber State snap the #9 University of Montana’s 15-game home win streak; their third longest all-time.

In his three years at the College of the Siskiyous, Coach Jones helped the special teams achieve an average offensive field position of the -31 after kick returns and generated eight field goal blocks between 2022-23. The Eagles finished the 2023 season with two top-25 return men in the state of California. During this time, Coach Jones also assisted athletes in the accumulation of 12 All-Conference honors, and one USATF All-American honor (Aiden Ellis, Javelin, 2022) as a head coach of track and field. In 2023 Coach Jones was promoted to the position of defensive coordinator while maintaining the role of co-special teams coordinator, and assistant strength director. Coach Jones led the Eagles defensive to finish the season with six games surrendering less than 230 passing yards, four of which the Eagles surrendered less than 150 passing yards, while assisting in the program receiving two more defensive All-Conference honors.

In 2021 Coach Jones began his college coaching career at the College of the Siskiyous in Northern California as a defensive backs coach, co-special teams coordinator, and assistant strength director. Between 2021-22, Coach Jones played a catalyst in three all-conference honors in the defensive backfield.

In 2019 Coach Jones accepted the position of defensive coordinator, assistant offensive coordinator, and director of strength at his high school alma mater, Perry Hall High School, in Maryland; working directly with receivers and defensive backs. His time at Perry Hall High School was highlighted with a 2021 Spring season that posted defensive stats of 7.2 points per game, 3.6 takeaways per game, and 3.3 sacks per game. He coached college football standout Ricardo Cooper, Nathaniel Adima, and Gavin Bedford.

Jones assisted in the capacity of a positional coach from 2014-17 before being promoted to the position of defensive coordinator in 2018 and helping the Cardinals to an MIAA Conference Title in 2018 finishing the season 12-1, and winning five straight Turkey Bowl Games (2014-18). He coached college football standout Rahkeem Smith, as well as college track & field standout All-American Jason Holmes, All-American Thomas Smith IV, and Jameir Colbert.

Coach Jones began his coaching career in 2014 at Calvert Hall College High School in Maryland as a defensive backs and running backs coach.
