Elizabeth Gainer

Elizabeth Gainer is entering her second season as the Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse program. In 2017 Gainer led the Golden Eagles to a best 4-11 record since taking over the program after a 1-11 2016 season.

Gainer was named University of Charleston's head women's lacrosse coach in August 2016 after an extensive national search.  Gainer takes over the second year program after spending the past five season as a head coach at NCAA Division I and II institutions.

Gainer will lead the Golden Eagles after serving as the head coach at Manhattan College from 2013 to 2016.  Prior to leading the Jaspers, Gainer was at the helm at Holy Family University where she compiled a 27-9 overall record in two seasons from 2011 to 2013.  Her Tiger teams at Holy Family won consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championships in 2012 and 2013, the first in the program's history.

Gainer held assistant coaching positions at Villanova and La Salle prior to her first head coaching position at Holy Family.  She spent the 2011 season as an assistant coach at Villanova where she served as the defensive/midfield coordinator and had roles in monitoring academics, scouting, and recruiting.  Prior to joining the Villanova staff, Gainer was an assistant for La Salle during the 2010 season.  She was tasked with aiding in practice coordination and developing strategies, plays and drills throughout the season while primarily focusing on the La Salle attack.

Gainer spent her collegiate playing days at Loyola (Md.) University where she lettered all four seasons in lacrosse for the Greyhounds. She appeared in 54 games at Loyola, scoring 37 goals and adding eight assists.

Gainer earned a degree in communications, specializing in advertising and public relations from Loyola in 2009.  She also owns a Master's degree in sports management from Neumann University.
