Men's Soccer Slips Past Concord in Overtime 1-0

Box Score

ATHENS, W.Va.
- The No. 4 ranked Men's Soccer came out of its idle week slow, yet managed to slip past conference opponent Concord 1-0.

The Mountain Lions controlled the attack early as Charleston was out shot in the first half for the first time this season 8-to-7. UC goalkeeper Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills High School) recorded two saves in the opening half and five for the contest.

The University of Charleston shook the rust off from the idle week in the second half to regain its offensive attack and hold a 9-3 advantage in shots after the break. CU weathered the Golden Eagle attack during regulation, but just nine minutes into the extra frame sophomore Ryan Osborne (Wakefield, England / St. Wilfrid's CHS) found the back of the net on the first shot of the extra period.

Charleston returns to the field when they host Ohio Dominican on Friday, October 8 for a 7:30 pm matchup at Schoenbaum Stadium. The contest will also be a 'Red Card for Cancer' event, a program designed to bring awareness through the soccer coaching community in the fight against cancer.
