CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Three Golden Eagles had double-digit attacks as UC narrowly slipped past visiting WV Wesleyan 3-2, Wednesday night at Eddie King Gym.

Chantal Hebron (Lexington Park, MD / Thomas Stone) led all scorers on the evening with 16 kills in 38 attempts, while classmate
Emmalee Luther (Fort Pierce, FL / John Carroll) followed close behind with 15 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore
Malleri Hardison (Uniontown, PA / Laurel Highlands) closed out the double-digit scorers for UC with 11 kills.
Charleston (9-6, 4-1) pulled out to quick lead in the first set, before a hard-nosed Bobcat (7-9, 3-2) attack managed to scrap and claw its way within striking distance. UC buckled down to weather the WVWC comeback in order to secure a 26-24 win, but the game showed what was to come for the rest of the evening.
WV Wesleyan fell behind again in the second set before a quick pep talk from head coach Jackie Murphy spurred a new look from Wesleyan as they finished the set hitting .238 and taking a 25-22 win to even the game at 1-to-1.
The Golden Eagles did not stay down long as they attacked a match-high .424 with only three errors en route to a dominant 25-18 third set. WVWC returned the dominant performance right back at Charleston in the fourth set as UC committed 12 errors with just eight kills, while the Bobcats forced a fifth set with a 25-12 win.
The final game looked like it was going to follow suit with sets three & four as the University of Charleston pulled away quickly 9-2, but WV Wesleyan would not be denied its chance pulling to within a point at 13-12 and again at 14-13. The Bobcat comeback for the victory was short-lived as the match point serve went out-of-bounds handing Charleston a 15-13 set win and sealing the game at 3-to-2.

Katie Williams (Gettysburg, PA / Gettysburg) recorded her second 50+ assist game of the season and was just one shy of her season-high with 51 assists.
UC takes its three-game winning streak on the road to Urbana (Ohio) as the two teams will square off for a 7:00 pm matchup on Friday, October 8.
