FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The University of Charleston softball team stayed in the race for the top spot in the West Virginia Conference with a doubleheader split against Fairmont State. The Falcons took game one 3-1, while Charleston picked up a 4-1 victory in the nightcap.
In game one, Golden Eagle starter
Stefanie Rossman (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) kept the Fighting Falcon bats quiet for eight innings of the contest.
Charleston grabbed the first run of the game in extra innings as

In the second contest, Fairmont out hit Charleston yet could not overcome a four-hit and four-run sixth inning as Rossman struck out eight to make the 4-1 lead holdup to keep UC within reach of the top WVIAC spot.
