Rossman Ends Regular Season No. 1 in NCAA

Junior Stefanie Rossman

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston junior Stefanie Rossman (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) finishes the regular season ranked as the top pitcher in NCAA Division II softball.

Rossman has held the top spot in the country in total strikeouts for much of the season and with 66 just last week she concludes the regular season with 363. She blew away the national competition with the next closest competitor standing at 302, while she also holds the lead for strikeouts in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference nearly doubling the total of second place.

Rossman is second in the WVIAC for opponent batting average by allowing a miniscule .206 average in a conference leading 321.0 total innings pitched. Nationally, she also ranks 3rd in total victories (32.0) and 31st with six shutouts this season.

The lone senior on the Golden Eagles team also received a strong national ranking to conclude her final campaign in the Maroon jersey. Kathy Jo Getz (Revloc, Pa./Central Cambria) finished the regular season ranked as the 35th toughest batter to strikeout with just seven strikeouts in 175 at-bats, while accumulating a .331 batting average and team best .387 on-base percentage.
