LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The University of Charleston soccer teams were unable to keep up with the Bald Eagles and the bad weather as both teams dropped 2-1 decisions to start their weekend road trip in PSAC country.
LHU (4-6-2) secured the women's game early with two goals within three minutes of each other early in a continual rain at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Kimberly D'Angelo (Lindenhurst, NY) got the Golden Eagles (4-6-1) on the board in the 65th minute with a long shot from 25-yards away for her third goal of the season. The D'Angelo goal was all the offense UC could muster in the contest as they were outshot by Lock Haven by a narrow 18-12 margin.
The men's contest had much the same feel as the game that came before it as LHU (7-5) managed to get into the Charleston zone early netting its first goal off a shot that rebounded from the crossbar past goalkeeper
Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH).
Leading scorer
Rob Vincent (Liverpool, England) tied the game in the 33rd minute with a canon-shot from 25-yards away to send the teams into halftime at 1-1.
Lock Haven took control of the match for good with a 2-on-1 opportunity in front of the net, which they managed to poke past a diving Teepen for what became the game winner.
Both teams will continue their road trip on Sunday, Oct. 16 with contests against Bloomsburg beginning with the women at 12:30 pm, while the men follow immediately after.
