Game Two - Box Score

Game Three - Box Score

FAIRMONT, W.Va. –
In a game that started on Saturday at Triana Field the University of Charleston overcame a 24-hour rain delay and a site change to secure an 8-4 win over Fairmont State in Fairmont on Sunday.

Tim Ponn (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) took the win in the game as he went 6.0 innings, while striking out four Falcon batters. He was unable to finish the game due to the long interruption from Saturday afternoon’s severe thunderstorms, yet fellow starter Anthony Pagano (Plantation, Fla./Coral Springs Christian) cleaned up the final official inning to hand Ponn his second victory of the spring.

Charleston broke the game wide open with seven runs in the second inning where 8-of-9 Golden Eagle hitters managed to reach base led by Nick Barnes (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) who had two RBIs in the inning for a 7-1 lead.

After Barnes scored for the second time in the game making the UC advantage 8-1 the storm clouds rolled in and strong wind blew rain upon Triana Field. The Fighting Falcons tacked on three unearned runs off Ponn to close within 8-4, but a bright lighting show would put an end to the FSU comeback attempt allowing the Golden Eagles to gather the next day and take the win.

Fairmont State followed the suspended game by taking two wins to complete the three-game series as scheduled dropping UC 7-6 and 7-4.

The Golden Eagles return to action at home against Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00 pm.
