ALDERSON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles split a doubleheader against Alderson-Broaddus dropping the first game 8-0, before rebounding behind Kelsee Blackwell for a 3-1 game two victory.
In the first game Charleston was unable to find any offensive power in a two-hit effort, while three fielding erros haunted UC allowing the Battlers to take 8-0 win in six innings.
The second game showed the Golden Eagles resiliency as Blackwell made just her second start of the season, yet showed why she isn’t to be forgotten as a pitching threat in the conference as she mustered Rossman like numbers. Blackwell went the distance in the game allowing just two hits, while striking out eight batters for her first career win.
Leading hitter Logan Tretick (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) continued to stay hot at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort in game two, while Sydney Finley (Alpharetta, GA/Chatahoochee) also recorded two hits along with two runs scored.
