CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The No. 6 ranked University of Charleston men's soccer squad prepares for their second-consecutive tilt with a Top-25 opponent as No. 14 Notre Dame (OH) comes calling on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 pm.
The teams enter the weekend contest as polar opposites in the NCAA Division II rankings. Charleston has held their undefeated record, one of just three left in NCAA Division II, by playing relentless defense and controlling possession for the duration of the contest. Notre Dame (OH) brings a 9-3 record to Schoenbaum Stadium behind one of the top offenses in country.
UC features the fifth ranked defense in Division II allowing just 0.47 goals per game, highlighted by goalkeeper
Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH ) who is ranked as the third-best goalminder in the country with a .909 save percentage. On the otherside the Falcons are ranked nationally as the sixth best scoring offense at 3.18 goals per game led by Tom Owens with eight goals and seven assists, while 12 total players have scored on the season.
The top stat to watch in the contest also comes from the scoring category. Charleston has allowed just one goal in the first half so far this season, while Notre Dame (OH) is an opening stanza juggernaut scoring 21 goals to start contests. Rob Vincent (Liverpool, England ) with eight goals and four assists, with newcomer
Renan Ramos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) following in second at four goals and two assists.
